THE DIFFERENCE " BETWEEN"
I am so tired of being "grouped" into the same category as a "backyard" breeder... so I want to share my ( and an excerpt) from a fellow breeder, to hopefully educate some on the difference... " I applaud you for your hard work trying to save these abused and neglected animals.. but I MUST take exception to what you have said.. DOGS LIKE THIS are not what quality breeders put out there. I can not say it better than what my fellow breeder has said, so am sharing her comments which I believe and stand behind 100%..."A good breeder doesn't just throw dogs together ... they are careful about making sure their dogs are worthy of reproducing and are willing to spend the money to make sure that they have good stock. Then they not only socialize their puppies, but they also are very careful about who they place their puppies with, they are concerned that each dog has a lifetime family to take care of them and are willing to take them back no matter the circumstances if the family can't keep them. A backyard breeder decides to breed because it will be a "good experience for the kids", because the neighbor down the street has an intact male and they think that they can make an easy buck or worse yet, because they are too lazy to find cheap alternatives to have their dog fixed (they are out there!) or think that it is being cruel to the dog, or they are too lazy to keep their intact dog confined. Then they sell cheap to the first person who comes along with the money just to "get rid of" the puppies because by then the mess is crazy-making, the kids won't have anything to do with them and they can't deal with the noise anymore. These are the dogs who are filling up the shelters, not our puppies who are carefully, deliberately bred, raised to be the best companions ever and placed in loving, permanent homes!!! " Please, be careful of WHO you group into the so called "backyard breeders" etc, who care so little for their puppies, that they do not care what happens to them after they are placed.. I follow up on my puppies yearly, and take pride in the fact that I KNOW without a doubt, that I have picked the very best "forever" home for my babies that I possibly can..
